How do I confirm my identity? (CIP)

PayPal needs to collect certain information about our customers and, in some cases, confirm that the information we collect is accurate. We may ask you to confirm your personal information or details about your business before we can offer you certain products and services.

How do I upload files to PayPal?

You upload files in your PayPal account. Log in to your PayPal account on a web browser and go to your Confirm your Identity page, or click the bell icon near the top of the page.

What can I upload?

Usually we’ll need a copy of your government-issued ID, and a proof of address issued within the past 12 months. You can take photos of them with your phone and upload them to us.

How long will it take to review my documents?

We’ll try to review your documents within 2 business days, but in some cases it may take longer.

What if I’ve already uploaded the documents for my other PayPal account?

We need you to upload documents separately for each PayPal account.

What if I don’t want to confirm my identity?

You may lose some PayPal features, like the ability to send, or receive money.
