How do I confirm my bank account with PayPal?
You need to confirm your bank account account before you can use it to make payments.
You can confirm your bank account instantly by logging in to your bank. This will allow us to confirm your bank account details and view balances and transactions in your bank account when necessary over the next 90 days. You can remove these permissions in your Settings at any time.
Here's how to confirm your bank account instantly:
- Go to your Wallet.
- Click the bank account you want to confirm.
- If available, you’ll see the instant bank confirmation on the next screen.
Alternatively, you can confirm your bank account manually. Once you've linked your bank account, we’ll deposit 1p in your bank account. You'll find a 4-digit code next to the 1p deposit on your statement. This should appear in your bank account within the next few minutes, but may take up to 2 hours, depending on your bank.
Here's how to confirm a bank account you’ve linked to your PayPal account when you know the 4-digit code:
- Click Wallet at the top of the page.
- Click the bank you want to confirm.
- Enter the 4-digit code and click Confirm.
Notes about the small deposits:
- If the bank account is for a business or more than one person is required to authorise debits, you must print and sign a paper Bank Funding Instruction and post it to the address provided on-screen.
- In some cases, we'll make 2 small deposits, both less than 1p. If so, you'll need to enter the 2 deposit amounts to confirm your bank account, rather than a 4-digit code.
- When linking a bank account to your PayPal account, you first need to accept a Direct Debit Mandate before using it to make payments.
- If a future payment fails from your bank account, you may need to accept the Direct Debit Mandate again. If this is the case, you’ll see a prompt to ‘Complete setup’ next to the bank account in your Wallet.
