Can I automatically transfer money to my PayPal Balance account?

Yes. You can set up automatic reloads to add a specified amount of money to your PayPal Balance account on a set schedule or whenever your balance falls below a threshold amount you select.

Scheduled Reloads

You can set up a recurring schedule to automatically transfer a specified amount from a selected linked bank account or linked bank debit card to your PayPal Balance account at regular intervals (weekly, every 2 weeks, or monthly).

Example: Add $25 from my bank debit card into my PayPal Balance account every 2 weeks.

Low Balance Reloads

Low balance Reload enables you to automatically add a specific amount of money to your PayPal Balance account when your balance falls below a minimum threshold you set. When your balance falls below the selected minimum threshold, the amount can automatically be transferred from your selected 1) linked bank account, 2) linked debit card, or 3) PayPal Savings account General Savings balance.

Example: Add $50 from my PayPal Savings account into my PayPal Balance account when my balance falls below $25.

Here’s how to set up automatic reloads via the PayPal App:

  1. Tap Accounts.
  2. Select PayPal Balance.
  3. Tap Set up auto reload.
  4. Choose either 'Low Balance Reloads' or 'Scheduled Reloads' to set up your automatic transfers.

You can choose the reload amount, set the funding source, and specify the minimum threshold or frequency that will trigger the automatic reload. To change these selections at any time, tap Manage auto reload in the app

What happens if I don't have sufficient money in my chosen payment method?

We’ll send an email notification to you. We won’t charge you for insufficient funds, but please check with your bank or card provider for reloads from linked bank account or linked debit card, as charges may apply. We suggest reviewing your automatic reload settings to ensure successful processing for future attempts.

Note that there is a maximum of 2 pending low-balance threshold automatic reloads per day. If your low balance threshold automatic transfer is triggered, and while that transfer is pending, your balance drops further, PayPal will queue up another automatic reload request.

Are there any fees for using the auto-reload feature?

No.

Why should I use Low Balance Reload from PayPal Savings?

With Low Balance Reload, your money in PayPal Savings keeps earning interest until you need it. When your PayPal balance gets low, we’ll automatically transfer funds from your PayPal Savings account to reload your PayPal balance. That way, you can continue to make everyday transactions - like buying what you need or sending money to friends and family - with ease. Just keep in mind that once those funds are moved from PayPal Savings to your PayPal balance, they’ll no longer earn interest.

What if I have set Low Balance Reload to pull from PayPal Savings, but I don’t want to pull money from a certain portion of my PayPal Savings funds?

Low Balance Reload will only pull money from your General Savings and will not pull money from any PayPal Savings goals you have set up. If you want to set aside money that Low Balance Reload does not transfer to PayPal balance, you could keep this money in a separate Savings goal within PayPal Savings – for example, “Emergency fund” goal.
